Born and raised in Vero Beach, Rick has a natural love for the paradise we call home here in
Vero Beach and Indian River County. His Vero Beach roots go all the way back to 1929 when his grandfather Raymond “Doc” Wykoff opened Theatre Drug in historic downtown Vero Beach. Later joined by Rick’s father Richard Wykoff they moved the business a few blocks west and opened Rick’s Pharmacy in 1961. His great aunt Peggy Kuster founded the Humane Society of Indian River County and his mother Alice was one of the first civilian employees of the US Navy at Naval Air Station Vero Beach fresh out of VBHS in 1942.
Rick attended grammar school in Vero Beach and graduated from VBHS in 1973, Indian River Community College in 1975, University of Florida (Broadcasting 1977) and obtained a master’s degree in business from Nova Southeastern University in 1987.
After six years in the local radio market, Rick joined Chevron Oil Company and spent 25 years in various sales and marketing positions with Chevron’s Lubricants Business Unit. With Chevron, he lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, San Francisco, CA, Syracuse, NY, Tampa, FL ultimately finding his way home to his beloved Vero Beach.
Rick enjoys Music, Golf, Fishing and Ham Radio holding the highest class Amateur Extra License. He volunteered for many years with Main Street Vero Beach as Board member and Entertainment chair hiring all the music for Downtown Friday events and The Hibiscus Festival.
He and his wife Laurie have four children and two grandchildren and enjoy everything Vero Beach has to offer. Continuing his sales and marketing career now in Real Estate, Rick looks forward to helping others settle into the area and enjoy the quality Vero Beach lifestyle.
